Move 08

Our recent Move 08 Convention held in Nelson was a huge success, bringing together a total of 91 delegates with 16 churches represented.

Pastor Sam Monk from Equippers Church, Auckland was the key speaker and we also had sessions from Aaron Ironside, Brent Pickworth, Brent Liebezeit, Steven Silcock and Kristen Williams. Friday consisted of one main session and electives. The electives were a ‘how to’ look at various areas of church life including youth, children, men’s & women’s ministries, life groups, assimilation, administration, worship, and much more.

All the main sessions are available on CD and can be purchased as a pack from head office for $35. Email Chelsea on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to order.

Move 08 received very positive feedback and below are some comments made from a recent online survey that our delegates completed:

What blessed and inspired me most was the thrilling realisation that Move 08 was indeed a witness to a God-directed, unrestricted MOVEMENT! – Free in Christ to reach out to communities and the nation in the power of His spirit, unfettered by past failures or traditions and confusions with a keen and capable team to lead us on and getting the job done. Praise the Lord.

"I found value in the networking and spending time with other leaders in similar situations. The sessions and speakers covered situations and areas we all face. Excellent event!"

"The Lord spoke to me deeply through one of the speakers and gave me the confidence to keep going for it. As a senior leader it was great to see the lights come on for the people who came with me."

"It was so great to see what God is doing in New Zealand and in the various churches. It was so great to get that connection. Many of the messages were imparting and relevant for my life.

"I was personally challenged and inspired to step out more for God and go beyond what I’ve ever imagined in the ministry to try things no one has tried before, and delighted to be a part of an amazing church movement."

"What an inspirational time! All the messages were both practical and anointed, and the fellowship was sweet. It is a joy and privilege to be part of this great family. We are indeed “on the move for God” which is exciting!"

We want to encourage you to share your stories with us. We would love to hear of the continuing impact Move 08 has had on your church and we love sharing what is happening at a local level as a Movement. Property Insurance Update

From Alan Jennings (Member of the Church Extension Property Trust Board)

The Christian Churches New Zealand Insurance Scheme has been renewed for a further 12 months from 1 August 2008 to 1 Aug 2009.

The premiums due for the 18 churches now total $45,188 with assets of $30.3 million.

By being part of the scheme the 18 churches have averaged premium savings of 18.3% whilst having a 14% increase in asset values.

The savings are significant and allow churches to ‘redeploy’ funds into Kingdom investment.

National Leadership Team Update

Greetings from the National Leadership Team

For our latest National Leadership meeting we met with the CEPTB in Nelson the day after Move 08.

All were in agreement that Move 08 had been a great experience, with lots of encouraging, constructive input from the speakers and plenty of very helpful practical advice from the electives.

The seed offering for church planting received at Move 08 amounted to $16,000. Thank you to churches and individuals that gave into this offering.

During our meeting we discussed ways we can further fund the vision of our Movement with much discussion around the opportunity for people to consider leaving the Trust a bequest in their wills. As a result of this discussion we will be producing an information pamphlet that will explain in detail this concept which will be distributed throughout our churches.

For those of you we caught up with at Move 08 it was great to have you there. For those who were unable to make it, hopefully we will see you at Move 09 next year.

God Bless
The National Leadership Team
