EXPERIENCE ZIMBABWE

From Brent Liebezeit

Just after Summit conference this year I headed back to Zimbabwe as I had received an invitation to speak at the National Pastors Seminar followed by their National Conference. The pastors seminar went for 2 days and It was an honour to be there.  The first day I taught on church leadership, and the second day how to build a healthy marriage.  Both were well received.  There were some very powerful moments as prayer for the sick was high on the priority list and many were prayed for and healed.  One particular miracle to share with you was I had prayed for a whole lot of people with bad backs at the pastors seminar, among them was a pastors wife who had back pain.  She said she felt heat shoot up through her spine and she was all excited and emotional as she was touching her toes, and twisting and turning.  The next day her husband saw me and he was emotional as well, thank you so much for praying for my wife, 'oh yes' i said, 'I remember  praying for her bad back.'   'Yes, but it wasn't just her back that got healed', he replied,' she also had throat cancer and now it has completely gone'.  'Are you sure?' I questioned.  'Yes he replied, she's been eating everything in sight in the last 24 hours.'  Before being prayed for she had only been eating small amounts of liquidy foods for some time.

The National conference had an attendance well over 3000+.  The first night I preached a gospel message and had a salvation altar call and there must have been more than a thousand responded with a couple of thousand more responding to prayer and ministry the next day. Overall it was an amazing time and it has opened doors to many areas of Zimbabwe in the future.

I was really sick the day before coming home.  I had eaten a meat pie!!  I knew that was a stupid thing to do and within half an hour of eating it I was not well.  Next day I'm in Johannesburg Airport, hot sweats feeling cold, and stomach was not good ... should i stay or come home?  I had a lot of hours to face on the plane?  I contacted Viv and she got our Annesbrook family praying.  I got on the plane, got a row of 4 seats to myself , took a sleeping pill, and slept at least 7 or 8 hours of the 9 hour flight to Perth and I awoke feeling great - another fantastic miracle to end the trip.

People often ask me why Zimbabwe?  My response is that God has simply opened doors for us there that are undeniable, thru the orphanage and the farm that Paul and Judith Todd manage, the support of the orphans living with their relatives - the Tigo projects and the showers of blessing trust that are continuing to bore for water in the villages.  We all have a part to play in this and thanks to Chris and Mandy Baigent for their pioneering work in all of it.

We also have 1000 churches in Zimbabwe who are a part of our Movement that began many years ago by missionaries from New Zealand.  Our key role is to represent the whole of the gospel, sharing with the Pastors and leaders the importance of the power of the Holy Spirit, and the power of the gospel that can truly change lives, as well as teaching leadership and vision.

Zimbabwe is not just a good idea for us; God had us there before we even got there.  He has ordained it, we dont go over just to take pretty pictures of wild animals there (although that certainly is part of the adventure).  We are there for a purpose and lives are being dramatically impacted because we are obeying God.

I am looking forward to taking teams to Zimbabwe in the future and would like to encourage you to be a part of the venture if you are not already and get to Zimbabwe.  The all up costs for 3 weeks is $5000 and believe me it is a worthwhile investment.  If you are interested in finding out when the next trip is or would like to know more you can contact myself or Chris Baigent from KiwiLink on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

I am always challenged to get busy with The dream, stop wasting time , otherwise we will continue to sit and not act, we will be frustrated and not free, and in frustration we will spectate, judge and criticise.  You might be able to give me 50 things that are wrong with this movement, but I could give you 100, this is not your perfect movement, but it's a great movement and Jesus loves her.

Be who Gods called you to be... fulfill what you know you are called to fulfill, and understand that you were born for such a time as this.

SUMMIT 2011

From Linda Eagle

Summit was held back in August and what an amazing conference it was.  We had just over 100 delegates registered this year with many more from the greater Nelson region attending the evening sessions.  This was a great time of input from our guest speaker Ps. Paul DeJong as well as many of our own people who spoke.

All the main sessions were recorded and are available on CD so if you are interested in purchasing a set of these please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Below are just some of the comments and testimonies that have been taken from the online survey which was sent out to those who attended.

“With the various speakers, there were some amazing themes that came through. E.g. remaining within your grace zone”

“From the very first meeting and testimony the atmosphere was charged and has made a difference to my attitude towards CCNZ which has already impacted the Church members. Realising we were important and not 'out in the cold' is and will be an encouragement and inspiration”

“For me the opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with others is still one of the most beneficial parts of summit, it reminds me that there is a bigger movement than just me and my church and that encourages me to continue on the mission”

“The main thing I got was that it is fine being ME.  How important and unique I am to God and to be comfortable with my gifting, which I didn’t think was very exciting because I wanted different ones!  How important it is to embrace what is your grace zone and work within it. Carry what is mine to carry”

“I think it is very relevant for all church members to attend, it helps you to see that you are part of something bigger than just you or your church”

“Having prayer times for personal one on one input was really helpful to me and it was great to feel our little church is part of something so much bigger”

Keep an eye out over the coming months when dates and details will be available for Summit 2012.

THE WIDER CHURCH

From Lyndsay Jacobs

A very successful Uniting Congregations Forum was held in Motueka at the beginning of September.  Lyndsay Jacobs was elected to the UCANZ Standing Committee.  Paul Burton will represent the National Leadership team on UCANZ.

A national ecumenical dialogue has been occurring and a proposal will come to churches for a Churches Forum for Christian Unity.  Both the NZ Christian Network and UCANZ have participating observer status.  Care has been taken to make the role of the proposed new group complimentary to the Christian Network and the national Leaders' Meeting.

Xiaoling Zhu from the Division of Overseas Ministries of the Disciples of Christ in the USA and Canada visited Linwood Avenue September 5 to provide earthquake support in person.  They made a significant gift to assist relief work.

Share the Care is the theme for the 66th annual CWS (Christian World Service) Christmas Appeal.  Famine & acute hunger were meant to be history by now - but a child dies of hunger related causes every 5 seconds on average.  Give for "life".

Blessings

Brent
